Today we are diving into eyeliner tattooing and lash serums!

With eyeliner tattooing a client who is looking for a fuller lash line will typically be doing one of the following: using mascara, getting lash lifts, getting lash extensions, or using an eyelash growth serum.

Lash Serums: A few things to note

A few years ago Australia regulated the active ingredient that was used by a lot of lash serums bimatoprost (which is typically used to treat Glaucoma, a degenerative eye disease) removing products like Latisse, EyeEnvy, and more from the Australian market. Bimatoprost is a prostaglandin-like chemical that behaves like a hormone.

We spent a few years making sure we found a lash serum that had no nasty ingredients but still delivered results (yes, there was a spreadsheet!). The lash serums vary in how they promote lash growth but the key thing you want to look for is a prostogladin-free formulation.

Our go-to is the Purely Lashes Lash Growth Serum, which we have stocked in our treatments clinics for years. That's why it was such an easy decision to start stocking it on MBC with our retail packs!

Reminder: Pre-Treatment for Eyeliner Tattooing

An important reminder for you and your clients, before an eyeliner tattoo:

  • Eyelash growth serums: Should be avoided for ideally four weeks prior to a cosmetic tattoo eyeliner treatment and then until the eyeliner is fully healed after touch up. The serums tend to change the consistency of the skin, increase blood flow to the area and cause pigment rejection during treatment.
  • Mascara: Should be removed prior to tattooing, and should not be worn during at least the first stages of healing (1-2 weeks).
  • Lash lifts: Should be avoided at least a week prior to an eyeliner tattoo, then avoided until completely healed after touch up. Sometimes a dramatic lift can get in the way of tattooing but it doesn’t affect suitability for the treatment itself.
  • Eyelash extensions: Must be removed well in advance of a cosmetic tattoo treatment, and not replaced until the eyeliner treatment is fully healed, including their touch-up.

Adding different retail opportunities is a great way to support your clients and your business and it all starts with finding products you love and trust! Check out our growing range of wholesale/retail packs to include in your beauty or cosmetic tattoo clinic!
