There are also moisturizing substances that improve the moisture balance in the skin by binding moisture. With dehydrated skin you need substances that ‘close’ the skin and also substances that retain the moisture like a sponge.
Substances who can: Dimethicone and cyclomethicone (silicone), Glycerin, Hyaluronic acid, Collagen, Vegetable oils, Urea, Glycolic acid.
Barrier recovering substances
If the skin is low in moisture, the skin barrier must become strong and healthy again. The skin is then more resilient and can protect itself better. Substances that help restore your barrier function are Vitamin C, Panthenol and Niacinamide (multitaskers).
